About Us:
Avangard Steel Ltd. is a Vancouver-based steel fabrication and installation company specializing in architectural and structural metalwork — including canopies, catwalks, railings, ladders, and structural steel frames. We work on diverse commercial and residential projects across British Columbia.
We are seeking an experienced freelance steel detailer to assist on a project-by-project basis, working remotely to produce precise and fabrication-ready drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare assembly and erection drawings for structural and architectural steel projects.
Develop accurate shop drawings, connection details, and part lists based on architectural and structural plans.
Coordinate with engineers and project managers to clarify details and ensure design intent is met.
Generate NC files, DXF, and PDF drawing packages for fabrication.
Review and revise drawings to reflect design updates and site conditions.
Ensure all drawings comply with CSA and AISC standards and project specifications.
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of experience in structural steel detailing.
Proficiency in Tekla Structures (or equivalent 3D steel detailing software).
Strong understanding of fabrication and erection processes.
Ability to work independently with attention to detail and meet deadlines.
Experience with connection design and reading structural drawings.
Good communication skills in English.
Work Terms:
Remote (Canada preferred, but open to international freelancers).
Project-based contract — paid per approved drawing set or negotiated project fee.
Flexible working hours, with coordination via email or online meetings.
